Hello techie people! Coding advice please

Let me explain this vision I have, and someone please tell me if it's possible.

I'm consulting on a website project that has a number of "interview" pages - students giving their perspectives on what it's like to study here. I thought it would be interesting on the main page of the site to have a little box with an image of one of the students and a block quote, and when you click on the box it links to that particular interview.

Now here's where it gets tricky. I'd like to make a different picture box for each student interview and have a different one appear each time you load/refresh the page. That is, the first time you visit the page you may see Sally Student's photo and quote, but when you go back the next time you see Steve Student's photo and quote.

Can this be done without a lot of hassle? Any tips you may have would be much appreciated.

I'm not a coder, just a designer, but you already know that ;-) So, take what I say with a grain of salt. I think you need to use javascript or a php snippet for what you want to do. This may be what you're looking for.

If that turned out to be too complicated, how about a Flash animation like the one on the NOVA homepage? It wouldn't refresh randomly every time you go back, but it would allow your visitors to read all the quotes without going back, whether they click on the corresponding numbers or they just let the animation play. That's easy to do. I can direct you to a Flash component that is already coded and you just would need to purchase and customize.

Have you seen the Oxford Wall of 100 faces? I took part in this- was interviewed about studying here and I think it sounds very similar to what you're talking about.

If you go to the Oxford home page (ox.ac.uk) it's on the right hand side- "100 faces". Have a look and see if you can find contact details for the people who run that project unless of course that's the project you're involved with...
