Project 365 Day 146: May 26, 2013

So, I turned around, and this was happening. That's PJ for ya. I must say, this is an awfully sturdy trike. (It's not new - it's about 25-30 years old.) Both Maggie and PJ have managed to ride it, and they're 19 and 20! http://flic.kr/p/etXPvn

Project 365 Day 145: May 25, 2013

Mr. Jack slept over tonight, and we gave him a bubble bath. As you can see, he had a blast! http://flic.kr/p/esMvd1

Project 365 Day 143: May 23, 2013

When I asked for suggestions for the photo of the day, this was my dad's contribution. He had some other ideas we tried first, but this one came out the best. :) http://flic.kr/p/erhSLd

Project 365 Day 142: May 22, 2013

I haven't added to my "Kaitlin takes pictures of produce at Whole Foods" collection in a while. Here we have some red onions. I took this because I liked the color. http://flic.kr/p/epbaHm

Project 365 Day 141: May 21, 2013

The frogs were so unbearably loud tonight. (Not this frog, of course!) Maybe because it is finally warm enough for them to come out, they're coming out in droves! http://flic.kr/p/epb8Vo

Project 365 Day 140: May 20, 2013

Finally, a plant that I recognize! ;) This came out better than I expected, actually. Taken at Central, of course. http://flic.kr/p/epb7UJ

Project 365 Day 139: May 19, 2013

This is what my mother is wearing to MOW THE LAWN. She is always so glamorous! She is more dressed up for this than some of the people attending the graduation yesterday! http://flic.kr/p/ekw73X

Project 365 Day 138: May 18, 2013

Today we went to the XL Center to celebrate Mary's graduation from Central. (I realize this has been an "all Central, all the time" theme this week, but hey, it happens.) I love graduations, even when they are not mine! I always get teary-eyed. I think it's because everyone who is graduating is always so happy. As it finished, they released a ton of balloons on the graduates. My photo doesn't do it justice, but it was cool. A great day, and I was happy I could be there to celebrate it. Congratulations Mary! :) http://flic.kr/p/eksaLJ

Project 365 Day 137: May 17, 2013

OK, this is getting really embarrassing. I need to get better at knowing flowers and trees when I take pictures of them! Spotted at another one of my walks around Central. http://flic.kr/p/ekrM4Y

Project 365 Day 136: May 16, 2013

Now that it's *finally* warm, I can take more regular walks around the Central campus during my lunch breaks. Today I was surprised to find the quad absolutely bare - it's usually packed at this time of day. But then I remembered that exams are over and everyone's headed home. I hope this means parking and traffic will be decent until August rolls around! http://flic.kr/p/ekm2kr

Project 365 Day 135: May 15, 2013

The best time to go to a college campus is just before commencement. They're always fixing up the place then, so it looks prettier than usual. I had the day off today for a doctor's appointment, and went to meet Lorelle and Lisa at the University of Hartford. Since I was there last, they installed all kinds of new water features near the Hartt School. They looked nice with all the flowers in bloom nearby. I think the last time I was on campus was in the middle of winter, so it was a nice change of pace! http://flic.kr/p/ekkrDT

Project 365 Day 134: May 14, 2013

This is a craptacular picture, but it was one of those moments where I just *had* to take a photo. And I wish I realized at the time that this would be my 500th consecutive photo - otherwise I might have aimed for a more interesting subject! This is a bar and grill called "The Bar and Grill." Seriously? They couldn't come up with a more interesting name? It sounds like the beginning of a "Who's On First" type of exchange. I saw this on the way back from a meeting at Charter Oak's other building in Newington. Actually, I see this place every day on my drive home, but I was stopped at the gas station next door and actually got to read the sign this time around. http://flic.kr/p/ekkrox

Project 365 Day 133: May 13, 2013

Out and about on the Central campus. This here is Davidson Hall, where the president's office is located. I keep forgetting that CCSU is one of the oldest colleges in Connecticut - it has some beautiful old buildings on its campus! http://flic.kr/p/ekrbv9

Project 365 Day 132: May 12, 2013

What a gorgeous Mother's Day! We had set up brunch indoors, thinking it was going to rain, but the clouds moved away and it was a beautiful day for most of the day. Whenever we are all together we try to take a family photo, so here is our best attempt at that. While not the best photo ever, it is one of the rare instances in which I appear in this series. I can count this picture in the project because I took it myself - we put the camera on a tripod, I set the timer and hit the button, then ran like crazy to make it into the photo. :) Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, especially my mom and my sister Kelly! http://flic.kr/p/ekqJoq

Project 365 Day 131: May 11, 2013

Tomorrow we are having Mother's Day Brunch at our house, so I've been busy baking. This is a Blueberry French Toast Casserole that I put together from several different recipes. It's in the fridge now to soak up all the egg and stuff, and will go in the oven tomorrow! You can check out how I made it here at Sharpen and try making it for yourself! http://flic.kr/p/ekqFAY

Project 365 Day 130: May 10, 2013

My bulletin board contains absolutely nothing of use, but I love it. When I was in Oxford I used to cover my walls with all kinds of cards and postcards. It's a little too much to keep up (the tape never stayed up), so I thought I'd confine it to this little part of my room. Most of these are cards I got in Oxford or received from friends, but I've been adding to it along the way with more post-Oxford stuff. I'm trying to keep it all on the bulletin board, though - it could easily take over my whole room. http://flic.kr/p/ekqBKU

Project 365 Day 128: May 8, 2013

I had a long training in Hartford this morning, but when I got out, I was excited to receive a message from the auction house. I had placed an absentee bid on a pair of maps, and I won the bid! I really only wanted this one - a vintage map of the New York Subway system. The almighty Google tells me that it's from around June 1950. The other map is a really old map of Windsor - much older than this. I'll have to do some digging to find out more about it! http://flic.kr/p/ekqwWq

Project 365 Day 127: May 7, 2013

I got out of work a bit early today and went to the auction, but I had a raging migraine and couldn't stay. When I got home, I had to go straight to bed. Maggie and Roxie decided to keep me company until I felt better! http://flic.kr/p/ekjHke

Project 365 Day 126: May 6, 2013

You'll notice that my watch says 7:00 in this photo. It was nowhere near 7:00 when I took this photo. I'd rather wear a broken watch that matches my outfit than wear no watch at all! http://flic.kr/p/ekqssh

Project 365 Day 125: May 5, 2013

What a gorgeous day! After visiting the craft fair at Get Baked I took a walk down behind the train station and around the pond. I think I got a little sidetracked, but it was a beautiful day to be out and about. These gorgeous trees were just outside the train station. I wish I knew more about what these trees are - I just take the photos because they're beautiful. http://flic.kr/p/ekjDDR

Project 365 Day 124: May 4, 2013

Today we had a fabulous day with Mr. Jack. We took him to breakfast, to Northwest Park and to our house to play, where he had big fun all day long. He had so much fun that he didn't want to leave! This is outside one of the tobacco sheds at Northwest Park. He looks like such a big boy here! http://flic.kr/p/ekjzwc

Project 365 Day 123: May 3, 2013

Today my parents are celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary! Here they are on their way out to dinner, and this weekend they will go spend the day in Mystic. http://flic.kr/p/egBVEq

Project 365 Day 122: May 2, 2013

Last Father's Day, I bought my dad an old, rusted out pedal plane from eBay. If you had seen it when I bought it (click on the link to see the "before" shot), you would've thought I went shopping for Father's Day at a landfill, and would've thought I was crazy. But check out this "after" shot - can you believe these are the same plane? My dad is awesome at these restoration projects! This is a 1941 US Army Pursuit plane, and was probably made some time up to 1950. If you live in Windsor and are going to the Memorial Day parade, you will probably see it in the back of my dad's Willys Army Jeep. :) http://flic.kr/p/eg8JGy

Project 365 Day 121: May 1, 2013

This my other beautiful Kate Spade bag. I bought it recently with loose change, gift cards and a coupon, which makes it awesome. I've learned that if I see a Kate Spade bag I like, I just wait for it to go to Clearance and then get it for like 60% off! http://flic.kr/p/eg2ZuB

Project 365 Day 120: April 30, 2013

This is the time of year where I take photos of beautiful trees. This beautiful tree is outside of Davidson Hall in front of the Central campus. I think that's the building where the president's office is located. http://flic.kr/p/eg2Zdz

Project 365 Day 119: April 29, 2013

Today was one of those days where I started to go to bed, then I sat up and said, "Oh crap, I need to take a picture!" I've made it 484 days so far...I don't want to break the streak now! http://flic.kr/p/eg8HQj

Project 365 Day 118: April 28, 2013

I see this door often on my semi-regular trips to my friend Emily's bakery. It's obvious that there used to be stairs there, but I always find it amusing that it's just a door to nowhere. http://flic.kr/p/eg8HEJ

Project 365 Day 117: April 27, 2013

Weekends, as usual, are for baking. Tonight I was dying to try making s'more bars, which are a lot like Rice Krispy treats except these include chocolate and Golden Grahams instead of Rice Krispies. They were delicious and so easy! I will definitely have to make them again. http://flic.kr/p/eg8HvG

Project 365 Day 116: April 26, 2013

My dad got back from India this afternoon. While he was there, I asked him to get me some of my favorite kinds of tea, Darjeeling and Assam, which I loved when I was in England but can never find here. I was so excited that he was able to find them! http://flic.kr/p/eg8HjQ

Project 365 Day 115: April 25, 2013

A big fat bluebird. I saw him at Price Chopper a while back and had to get him. Everyone loves him! http://flic.kr/p/eg2Yeg

Project 365 Day 114: April 24, 2013

I know these are weeds, but I loved the color of them. They're all along the side of the road next to the parking lot at work. I had to take a picture of them just for the purple! http://flic.kr/p/eg8GWm

Project 365 Day 113: April 23, 2013

Trees at work. Nothing particularly exciting about them, but it's nice to finally see that they're green! http://flic.kr/p/eg2XNc

Project 365 Day 112: April 22, 2013

Forget trees and birds - the real first sign of Spring is when the ice cream truck starts coming around again. When this one pulled up tonight, the driver announced, "Happy Spring!" I have another picture just like this, except PJ and Maggie were probably 4 and 5. I'll have to find it to compare :) http://flic.kr/p/eg8GfN

Project 365 Day 111: April 21, 2013

My dad left for India early this morning, and we pretty much spent the whole day watching movies. That being said, I'm pretty surprised I still managed to log over 5000 steps today! http://flic.kr/p/eg8G71

Project 365 Day 110: April 20, 2013

My dad is headed to India for a week tomorrow, so I've been trying to dig up all of my old travel stuff that I thought might be useful to him - like this bag for liquids. I know he's traveled much more than I ever have, but he's had quite a track record of weird stuff happening when he travels abroad. (He didn't take the liquid bag in the end, by the way, but he did take a voltage adapter. :)) http://flic.kr/p/ecUWXG

Project 365 Day 109: April 19, 2013

I think this photo is representative of what pretty much everyone in America did tonight - we were glued to the television, watching the events unfold as the Boston police managed to capture the remaining suspect the Boston Marathon bombing. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the families living in that town today, but what a relief to watch when it was all over. http://flic.kr/p/ecPiiK

Project 365 Day 108: April 18, 2013

For some reason, I have a lot of friends hitting the big 3-0 this year. It got me nostalgic for my own 30th birthday. Today is not actually any of my friends' birthdays, but I'm posting this because it marks something new for me: I actually managed to buy and mail presents for my friends ahead of schedule so they would arrive on time! :) http://flic.kr/p/ecstEQ

Project 365 Day 107: April 17, 2013

OK, now I'm really curious to know what monument once stood on the corner of Stanley Street and Paul Manafort Drive, right in front of a Bank of America ATM and a Dunkin Donuts. Probably something to do with Stanley, or Paul Manafort. http://flic.kr/p/eced51

Project 365 Day 106: April 16, 2013

Yay, the magnolia trees are out! They're only out for such a short while, so you have to enjoy them while you can. I probably took this same picture on the same day last year, but it's still worth it. http://flic.kr/p/ec8xo2

Project 365 Day 105: April 15, 2013

I was out and about for my walk on the Central campus today when I happened to look down and spot this mural. I thought it was pretty cool. I have no idea if there's actually a Blacksmith located down there - I think there's some sort of maintenance shop, but either way, I liked it. http://flic.kr/p/ec8xa2

Project 365 Day 104: April 14, 2013

Kelly and John's friends, Jody and Melanie, had a baby recently, so Kelly and John went down to visit them and Jack stayed with us. They were scheduled to have a family picture after the visit so it was our job to get Jack ready so he could go straight to the picture. He looked great, as you can see here, but it was hard to keep him from potentially messing up or ruining his outfit! http://flic.kr/p/ec8wmR

Project 365 Day 103: April 13, 2013

I am always impressed with how the stockpeople at Price Chopper manage to put the can boxes up in some sort of design. Despite yesterday's winter coat, it actually is baseball season, as depicted here. But some games are getting cancelled or delayed due to snow! http://flic.kr/p/ebE9L6

Project 365 Day 102: April 12, 2013

It kills me that it's mid-April and I still need to keep this coat handy. http://flic.kr/p/ebKMUq

Project 365 Day 101: April 11, 2013

This scarf was part of yesterday's haul at Buckland - I wore it to work today. I found it at a great store called Francesca's. I also got one that is mint green with coral flamingos! http://flic.kr/p/eaEYFC
