Project 365 Day 189: July 8, 2013

These days, I almost always park in the last row of the parking lot wherever I go. It helps me get more steps in my day. The only thing that doesn't work is if I have people with me - they don't want to walk that far! http://flic.kr/p/fjb3oJ

Project 365 Day 188: July 7, 2013

Today was Mary's graduation party at her parents' house. I know I should have posted a picture of the party, but I wanted to share out something else I found interesting today. Her parents live on a street where one of my first friends from school used to live. I haven't been back there in forever, and we lost touch a long time ago. When I went to the party today, my dad pointed out her house to me. It made me very nostalgic all of a sudden for the elementary school years, when we first moved to Windsor! http://flic.kr/p/fg91Gp

Project 365 Day 187: July 6, 2013

Kevin came over with Daisy today. No, he did not acquire more dogs; this is just another example of how awesome my phone's camera is. They have this thing called the Drama Shot, where you can take a picture of something moving across the screen and the camera will fuse the images together. Very cool! http://flic.kr/p/fg8Z7D

Project 365 Day 186: July 5, 2013

It's marshmallow season! It seems like this is the weirdest thing to eat in the middle of ridiculous heat, but it wouldn't be summer without it. http://flic.kr/p/fg8Ucp

Project 365 Day 185: July 4, 2013

The 4th of July wouldn't be complete without fireworks! We didn't set off too many this year, but we had tons of sparklers. Happy Independence Day! Back to work tomorrow..... http://flic.kr/p/fg8T7D

Project 365 Day 184: July 3, 2013

We have tomorrow off, and then we have to work Friday. In honor of the 4th of July, my colleagues and I wanted to do something to celebrate. So we went to a German restaurant, as one does to commemorate an American holiday ;) http://flic.kr/p/fg8shV

Project 365 Day 183: July 2, 2013

Jack came over again today, went swimming, and we gave him a bath. This photo illustrates two things: 1. his pajamas, which I loved (the bottoms had a cool submarine print) 2. how awesome my camera is, because he was moving a lot and the camera managed to capture him! http://flic.kr/p/fgnEn7

Project 365 Day 181: July 1, 2013

Yes, a tornado actually happened where I live today. I didn't get to see it in action, but I did see some of the damage from it. I live in an area with lots of tobacco fields, and all of the tobacco netting was blown all over the place! Kelly said that they had to wake Jack up at his daycare and take all the kids in the basement! We have such weird weather in Connecticut. http://flic.kr/p/fg8mcD

Project 365 Day 181: June 30, 2013

I think this is the only photo I managed to take today. Mr. Jack came today and went swimming. As you can see, he doesn't like to stop and pose for photos when he could be in the pool! http://flic.kr/p/feqBKd

Project 365 Day 180: June 29, 2013

Kevin and his friends had a party tonight, and we stopped by. My dad played a frisbee game with them, and this is an action shot from the game - he was shocked that the other team managed to catch it! http://flic.kr/p/f8ykoC

Project 365 Day 179: June 28, 2013

Today was our summer party at work, held at the Bar and Grill in Newington. It was fun and the food was great, but no one took any photos, so this wristband is the only photographic evidence I have left! It made it feel like it was an exclusive event. :) The Bar and Grill is kind of unassuming when you look at it from the front, but it's not a bad place! http://flic.kr/p/f8iX9P

Project 365 Day 178: June 27, 2013

This is my year for trying out Farmer's Markets. Today I braved the rain to head to the Wethersfield Farmer's Market, and loved it :) I bought some of these gorgeous radishes and many other things. It's a little too early for most vegetables, but it's still worth the visit! http://flic.kr/p/f8iRdB

Project 365 Day 177: June 26, 2013

After my bad mood yesterday, I needed a retail therapy fix today. I upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and got this lovely Kate Spade clutch wallet. It definitely helped! Both are awesome! http://flic.kr/p/f8iLHe

Project 365 Day 176: June 25, 2013

I'm in a bad mood today, but this kind of makes me laugh. A while back, I bought a kit that lets you make these banners with custom messages. I wanted to make one for Maggie's graduation, but she thought it would be embarrassing. I know I'll find another use for it though! :) http://flic.kr/p/f71wg2

Project 365 Day 175: June 24, 2013

Today was the last day of school, and Maggie's graduation from River Street School! She is finishing up early and heading to the Middlesex Transition Academy at Wesleyan University for the next two years. We are very proud and excited for her! Here is Maggie, working the processional like a boss. She stopped and struck a pose when she reached us. She made the whole photo-taking part of the ceremony very easy :) http://flic.kr/p/f51o6t

Project 365 Day 174: June 23, 2013

I was out buying Maggie some stuff for her graduation, and saw it as a good opportunity to stock up on a key summer item: pool noodles. Here is Maggie brandishing the noodles, ninja-style. The arrival of pool noodles means summer has arrived! http://flic.kr/p/f5fxys

Project 365 Day 173: June 22, 2013

Today we went to the wedding reception for my cousin Justin and his wife Jenn. Jenn actually has the honor of being the first "Mrs. Walsh" of our generation. It was a great party and great to see some Walshes I haven't seen in a while! Justin and Jenn are holding a bottle of Avery Soda, which they had custom made for the big day. Other than the custom label, which has their names on it, this was very cool because (a) it was "Walsh blue," and (b) we're actually related to the Averys - our great grandmother (my father's father's mother) was an Avery. Congrats Justin and Jenn! http://flic.kr/p/f4ZZwi

Project 365 Day 172: June 21, 2013

I love making a pit stop in West Hartford on my way home from work. I think Blue Back Square is what other places visualize when they think of Connecticut! http://flic.kr/p/f4wqcA

Project 365 Day 171: June 20, 2013

I had to go to an all-day meeting in Hartford today. I don't enjoy driving in Hartford, but there are some cool things to see that make the drive more interesting. I snapped this photo while sitting in traffic - this is the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. I took it because my non-Connecticut friends usually can't believe what a big deal insurance companies are in Hartford! http://flic.kr/p/f4h6gk

Project 365 Day 170: June 19, 2013

Yay! Farmer's Market season has begun! I went to my first farmer's market of the year today, in East Granby. This is my haul. I plan on trying more farmer's markets this yet, but I'm afraid of what it will do to my bank account! http://flic.kr/p/f4h3KD

Project 365 Day 169: June 18, 2013

I don't understand this ad that I saw in the CCSU student center. It says, "Dare to be a Blue Devil...4 out of 5 Blue Devils have never been in trouble with police, residence hall staff or other university authorities." What exactly is it trying to get students to do? I'm assuming they want more students to follow that example, but it sounds like it could go the other way as well. http://flic.kr/p/f4gYqx

Project 365 Day 168: June 17, 2013

I'm doing a project with Soomo Publishing, a company that makes webtexts. They send out cool stuff to the instructors who teach with their webtexts - the Political Science instructors, for example, get Political Science-themed bobbleheads. I was delighted to get one today. This here is Alice Paul, and she has a prominent spot on my desk. I think she's pretty sassy. Thanks Soomo! http://flic.kr/p/f4gSTe

Project 365 Day 167: June 16, 2013

Happy Father's Day! We had a great day at our house with the whole family. I'm rather proud of the gift I managed to find for my dad - an original ad for the 1957 Chris Craft Sea Skiff Cruiser, which is the boat he is restoring with his brother. (I also got him some other things, but they haven't arrived yet!) http://flic.kr/p/f4vTpw
